Founded in 2023, St. Andrew's Fish Farm, LLC is a Veteran-Owned Small Business located in St. Mary's, KS. We are committed to creating quality fish products containing Asian Carp and various other river and ocean fish. Asian Carp are now referred by the Fish & Wildlife Agency as "Copi" (pronounced "koe-pee"). This is short for "copious", meaning large in quantity or number. Copi have incredible reproduction capabilities and are able to grow up to 100 pounds. In fact, they're officially an invasive species.
Initially, the Copi will be brought from the Mississippi/Missouri Rivers and tributaries to help aid the Fish & Wildlife Agency/Department of Natural Resources in their battle to rid the nation's waterways of this problematic species.
Gregg Hochderffer is the owner and president of St. Andrew's Fish Farm, LLC. He spent 20 years in the military (Navy and Army National Guard), received a B.A. in History from California State University at Chico, and has 5 years experience in manufacturing for Royal Canin. He is currently pursuing Master Gardener certification.
The St. Andrew's business model is to produce a multitude of quality fish products that will use our marketing label of "Holy Copi".
In Stage 1, our first product is Holy Copi Organic Liquid Fish Fertilizer. It is a premium hydrolysate (natural fermentation). It is currently available in quart containers for $10 and gallon containers for $35. Backyard gardeners and small organic farms are our customer base. The product will be sold online and at various retail outlets that sell garden accessories by the summer of 2025.
We gave away free 2 ounce samples last Fall to neighbors and friends to try it out and tell us what they thought. We had many favorable responses regarding the use of the fertilizer, especially on pepper plants. The pepper plants responded favorably with intense growth and vitality. We believe most crops will respond favorably once they have had a dose of this premium fertilizer.
One part of our marketing plan is to place FREE 2-ounce samples in garden stores and at farmer's markets throughout Kansas and eventually the entire US.
At St. Andrew's Fish Farm, we are committed to using responsible farming practices that will minimize our environmental impact and to ensuring the long-term sustainability of our aquaculture operations. We will use organic feed and will carefully monitor the water quality to make certain that our fish are healthy and happy.
The Stage 2 development phase will be the building of a small 10 acre prototype "Mega Fish Farm". The prototype fish farm will showcase how carp/shad/catfish can be raised and harvested using automation and the latest technology. The prototype fish farm will also showcase how one person can harvest the ponds by themselves and have the fish transported to the onsite processing facility.
The Stage 3 development phase will be the building of a 1000 acre Mega Fish Farm containing over 225 fish ponds. Each pond will hold 20,000 or more fish, with an annual average of 22.5 million pounds of fish (based on all ponds producing fish at 5lbs each). Location TBD but most likely South Texas. MIT researchers have redefined a desalination process that is inexpensive and will make this project doable and profitable. *We will also be producing Holy Copi Fish Oil for pet food and Holy Copi fish products for human consumption.
It is our goal to be using the expertise of university researchers to aid us in the development of our fish fertilizer products. In fact, we plan on having national universities test our products and eventually be a credible resource for our products' capabilities.
*The long-term plan calls for building multiple 1000 acre Mega-Fish Farms in south Texas (short distance to the Gulf of America).
*Stage 3 Production: One pound of fish per 1 gallon of product. Producing a minimum of 10 million pounds of fish annually / selling retail at a low price of $20-$30 a gallon for fish fertilizer = $200 to $300 million gross.
